BPC-157 UK: Status and Where It Is Sold

BPC-157 UK status explained: no UK licence, how the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 apply, the April 2026 MHRA probe, WADA rules and who sells it.

bpc 157 uk

In April 2026 The Guardian reported that the MHRA was investigating UK peptide clinics making medicinal claims about unregulated peptides, and BPC-157 was one of the compounds named. That investigation is the clearest signal of how the UK regulator sees BPC-157 in the UK: not as a banned substance, but as an unlicensed product that becomes a medicines issue the moment someone sells it as a treatment.

The aim of the following guidance is to inform about BPC-157’s position in the UK, which entity is involved in the sale as well as what it implies for those interested in purchasing it. I have stayed within the limits of true facts according to regulators and published reports.

BPC-157 has no UK licence

BPC-157 lacks approval from the UK drugs authority as well as the US FDA for human application. It won’t be found in any high street pharmacy since there’s no doctor prescribing it as a drug that has been licensed for medical purposes.

It is a synthetic peptide made of 15 amino acids with origins in a protein present in gastric juice. As of now, it is still in preclinical stage. The published information comes from research conducted on rodents, focusing more on connectivity, muscular, and intestinal tissues with scarcity of human data.

The absence of a license means that there is also no approved dosage, patient information leaflet, or any products that the MHRA has evaluated for quality.

How the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 apply

According to the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, the classification of a product is based upon the purpose it is aimed for. BPC-157 is considered as medicine since it is claimed to assist with treating injuries.

This is the point of the April 2026 MHRA investigation. Clinics and sellers that make treatment claims risk being treated as selling unlicensed medicines. The reporting did not say that BPC-157 is illegal to sell in the UK, and we are not saying that either. Equally, nothing makes it legal for human use.

  • Sold as a research compound with no health claims: the common model.
  • Sold with claims that it treats injuries or illness: risks being treated as an unlicensed medicine.
  • Prescribed by a UK doctor as a licensed medicine: not possible, as no licensed product exists.

Who sells BPC-157 to UK readers

The readers in the UK can access BPC-157 through three main means: international research vendors, peptide clinics in the UK, and unofficial suppliers selling through social media. Only the first means is discussed on this page.

The two vendors we list, Peptide God and Real Peptides, are US-based and price in US dollars. Peptide God lists BPC-157 at $34.95 (US dollars); Real Peptides lists a 10 mg vial, BPC-157 10mg, at $43.20 and BPC-157 Capsules (100 capsules) at $120.00. Both label their products for research use.

We have not verified that either ships to the UK. Check that on the vendor's own site first, and read our UK delivery guide on customs, VAT and Border Force before ordering. Prices and per-mg comparisons are on our price page.

The US picture also affects UK buyers

Because the vendors are American, US regulatory moves shape what they sell and how they describe it. In September 2023 the FDA placed BPC-157 and TB-500 in "Category 2" of its interim bulk-substances lists, which stopped compounding pharmacies from using them while safety concerns were reviewed.

On 23 July 2026 the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted 8-6, with one abstention, to recommend adding BPC-157 to the 503A bulks list. That vote is non-binding. The FDA still has to decide and then go through proposed and final rulemaking, and as of that meeting compounding of BPC-157 was not permitted.

In August 2026 the FDA sent warning letters to five online peptide vendors. BPC-157 was not among the products named, but the FDA said "research use only" labels do not settle the question; it looks at disease claims, dosing guidance and similar content on the whole website.

Sport and anti-doping

BPC-157 is classified as an S0 non-approved substance on the WADA Prohibited List. UK Anti-Doping applies the WADA list to UK athletes, so anyone subject to testing should not use it.

That applies whatever the product label says and whichever country it ships from. TB-500, often sold alongside BPC-157, is prohibited too. We cover TB-500 separately on our TB-500 UK page.

What this means before you order

A person in the UK may come across BPC-157 on sale, but they need to understand that the product in the market isn’t approved for human consumption at the moment. Those procuring it must be ready to make sure of its authenticity by examining the Certificate of Analysis, and ensuring that the product is easily deliverable to the UK and that it is not verified by any medicine regulatory body.

Be cautious of any seller, UK clinic, or foreign website claiming that BPC-157 can heal an injury or fix a medical condition. This is precisely the types of claim that the MHRA wants to investigate under UK regulations. Your GP or pharmacist is the first place to turn for any injury or health problem you may have.
