Certificate of Analysis is the ultimate benchmark. Real Peptides claims it releases a unique third-party COA prior to the purchase; Peptide God refers to its BPC-157 as having been lab-released with a purity of 99% or greater.

BPC-157 isn't classified as a licensed drug in the UK and has not been approved by the US FDA for use in humans. The compound, seized after nervousness about it in the US, continues to be marketed as a research chemical, however, April 2026 reports no indications that the MHRA has deemed its sale illegal in the UK.
What the MHRA considers is the intended use. According to the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, if a product is marketed as having the ability to cure injury or improve cognitive or metabolic function, then it must be viewed as a medicine for regulatory purposes. This is why companies use it on their products simply as "for research purposes only," and it is the reason why we at this site do not make health claims regarding any of the products mentioned here.
Athletes have a separate issue. BPC-157 and TB-500 are on the WADA Prohibited List, and UK Anti-Doping applies that list to UK athletes.
The majority of the knowledge regarding BPC-157 has stemmed from rodent studies which investigated its effects on muscles, gut, and tendons. Its usage in humans is based on a few small studies which do not give a reliable idea of side effects or safe use in humans.
